The Future of Scalloping

The Future of Scalloping

Date/Time
Monday, June 10, 2019
6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Presented by Mary Newton-Lima, Researcher Coonamessett Farm Foundation
Sponsored by Northstar Wealth Partners, LLC

Two major changes in southern New England waters are the development of wind farms and the warming of these waters. CFF is studying the impact of global warming on the location and habitats of commercially important finfish & shellfish species. Offshore wind farm development off Martha’s Vineyard could significantly affect the scallop fishery. Currently the scallop fishery is well-managed through rotational fishery; however, the entire industry is dependent on natural sets of scallops and their survival.
