The Avery-Copp House and the Groton Bank Historical Association will host a presentation by George and Gretchen Gauthier, Buttons: a Fashionable History, November 9, at 7 PM at the Congregational Church, 162 Monument Street in Groton. The Gauthiers, former Pfizer scientists, who have used their training to find, classify and build a collection of 30,000 to 40,000 buttons, will present an illustrated lecture on buttons, the evolution of fashion and associated manufacturing techniques. Their talk will incorporate stories of the battle of Fort Griswold and the families of the Avery-Copp House and other local families. Buttons from their collection will be on display.
